Addressable Fire Alarm System

Fire detection technology has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few decades. It first took conventional fire alarms and ran them through a panel that linked different areas. This is now known as a conventional panel. Small buildings continue to use these panels, although larger buildings have opted for addressable fire alarm systems, which pinpoint the area of trouble much more accurately.

Conventional panels usually have a limited number of circuits, and each circuit is responsible for several alarms. Therefore, when an alarm is sounded, all that is seen is the general circuit that has been tripped, not which specific device on the circuit has sounded. Addressable fire alarm systems, on the other hand, are more specific and offer single point detection.

Addressable fire alarm systems are circuits that have been subdivided even further, thereby allowing each device to have its own point of call. In large buildings, the need for addressable fire alarm systems is paramount. Time wasted discovering where exactly a fire is taking place can be disastrous. As fires can grow at alarming rates, minutes wasted can be devastating.

Addressable fire alarm systems need to be tailored to each specific location. At Global Fire Control, we offer these systems and more and work hand in hand with engineered systems distributors (ESDs) to map out a system that works for you.
